Former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh Injured in Stone-Pelting Attack Near Katol
Nagpur, India: On Monday night, former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh sustained injuries in a stone-pelting attack while travelling to his hometown Katol. The incident took place around 8 p.m. near Belphata on Jalalkheda Road as Deshmukh was returning from a meeting in Narkhed village.
Deshmukh’s vehicle was reportedly attacked by a group of unidentified assailants, leading to injuries that required medical attention. He was promptly taken to Katol Civil Hospital for treatment.
Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police Dr. Harssh Poddar confirmed that police are investigating the incident. Senior officials have been deployed to the scene to gather evidence and identify those involved in the attack.
The incident occurs just a day before state elections.
