NCP's Protest Against NMC for Bridge Delay

Members of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), specifically the Ajit Pawar faction, organized a protest against the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for not completing the construction of a bridge over Nag River. This bridge serves as a vital link connecting Ramdaspeth to Maharajbagh.

The NCP, led by its city chief Prashant Pawar, alleged that the NMC authorities are protecting the interests of the contractor involved in the construction project. According to the contract agreement, the bridge construction was initially expected to be finished by October 31, 2023. However, the NMC extended the project's timeline by two months. Observing the slow pace of construction, it appears that the contractor may still fail to meet the extended deadline, leading to frustrations and concerns among the NCP.

To express their discontent over the situation, the NCP staged a unique protest. Party workers organized Bhajan and Kirtan sessions and protested against the NMC's handling of the bridge construction project. The unique form of protest aimed to draw attention to the delays and perceived injustices surrounding the project.

During the protest, the NCP activists demanded the presence of a senior NMC official at the construction site to receive their delegation and address their concerns. In response to this demand, Assistant Commissioner of Dharampeth Zone, Prakash Varade, met with the protesters in Ramdaspeth. This meeting was a step towards addressing the grievances of the NCP and the local residents affected by the delayed bridge construction.
