Neeraj Chopra demands that sports facilities be improved
During a consultation meeting with the Sports Ministry on the Draft National Sports Governance Bill on Wednesday, Neeraj Chopra urged an upgrade in sports facilities while coaches emphasized the importance of empowering Indian coaches.
Through the proposed legislation, leading athletes and coaches from throughout the nation offered recommendations on how to enhance India's sports ecosystem. Mansukh Mandaviya, the union minister of sports, presided over the gathering.
About 120 people participated digitally, and about 40 athletes and coaches were present at the gathering. Prominent current and former athletes in attendance were Chopra, Nikhat Zareen, Bhavani Devi, Gagan Narang, Samaresh Jung, and Ashok Kumar.
It was also proposed that, as politicians are not subject to this age restriction, the 70-year-old requirement for sports administrators be lifted. States' involvement was crucial, and the bill also needed to address issues like age fraud and other related issues. These were some of the suggestions made by coaches and athletes.
