NIT Allocates ₹1,507.79 Crore for 2025-26, Major Push for Infrastructure Growth

Nagpur, India: The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has unveiled a budget of ₹1,507.79 crore for the financial year 2025-26. The budget focuses on improving roads, housing, and civic amenities, aiming to enhance infrastructure and public services across the city.
A major portion of the budget has been allocated for road development, with ₹70 crore set aside for constructing and upgrading asphalt and cement roads, particularly in growing areas. Additionally, ₹55 crore has been granted to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to improve essential civic services.
Housing projects have also received attention, with ₹10 crore allocated for new developments. NIT expects to generate ₹80 crore in revenue from renting out land and commercial buildings. Furthermore, ₹791.26 crore has been earmarked for the development of Dalit and Non-Dalit areas, along with projects funded by MPs and MLAs.
To boost sports and recreation, ₹150 crore will be spent on upgrading 200 playgrounds across Nagpur. These playgrounds will receive improvements such as fencing, lighting, drainage, and other sports facilities, making them more accessible for the community.
In addition, commercial projects are expected to generate ₹30 crore in revenue, with developments planned in areas like Gokulpeth and Ashirwad Nagar. The budget also includes ₹60 crore for new infrastructure projects under the Maharashtra Gunthewari Development scheme and ₹205 crore for providing basic services in various city layouts.
The budget was presented by NIT Chairman and Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Meena, with senior officials attending the meeting. NIT aims to use this budget to drive the city’s development and improve the overall quality of life for its residents.
