NMC Caught Dumping Waste into Pohra River During Clean-Up Campaign
Nagpur, India: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has been caught dumping sewage into the Pohra River near Hudkeshwar. On Thursday, a suction-cum-jetting machine used to clean sewage chambers was seen releasing grey water and muck directly into the river.
This machine is supposed to remove waste from storm drains to keep the water flowing smoothly. However, it was caught dumping waste into the river, which goes against the NMC’s efforts to clean up city rivers.
NMC has been spending millions of rupees to clean the Nag, Pili, and Pohra rivers, including a major Rs 900 crore project for the Pohra River. This project aims to lay new sewer pipes and replace old ones. However, the incident raises concerns about whether NMC is truly committed to cleaning up the rivers.
While NMC works to improve the city’s sewage systems, actions like this show a clear lack of responsibility and accountability. The public is now questioning the NMC’s dedication to keeping the rivers clean.
