NMC Commissioner Inspects New Parking Site for Garbage Trucks

Nagpur, India: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhary conducted an on-site inspection on Thursday of a proposed area designated for parking garbage collection vehicles and managing waste. The NMC-owned site, situated between the Central Jail and the Irrigation Department in the Laxminagar Zone, is being considered for this purpose due to space constraints at the current location.

The inspection was attended by senior officials, including Additional Commissioner Mrs Anchal Goyal, Deputy Commissioner Dr Gajendra Mahalle, Deputy Commissioner Mr Milind Meshram, Executive Engineer Ravindra Bundhade, Executive Engineer Mr Pankaj Parashar, and Laxminagar Zonal Officer Mr Rambhau Tidke.

The site under consideration spans one hectare and is strategically located to accommodate the city's growing need for efficient waste management. Currently, garbage collected by AG Enviro from various locations is transported to the Bhandewadi dumping yard. However, due to limited space at Orange City Street, the NMC has proposed shifting the parking of garbage trucks to this new site.

Dr Chaudhary emphasized that no waste will be dumped directly onto the ground at this location. Instead, garbage from smaller collection vehicles will be transferred to larger trucks, which will then be transported to the Bhandewadi dumping yard. The site will also feature a wide-access road and covered parking facilities for the trucks. The Commissioner stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the area, instructing that no waste should be stored at the site.

During the inspection, Dr Chaudhary thoroughly reviewed the area and directed officials to ensure proper planning and execution of waste collection operations, emphasizing the need for efficient and organized management at the new location.
