NMC Files Complaint Against Contractor for Illegally Holding Possession of Sant Tukdoji Maharaj Sports Complex
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has filed a complaint with the police against a contractor who is allegedly attempting to illegally hold possession of the Sant Tukdoji Maharaj Sports Complex near Agyaram Devi Square. According to a press release, the sports complex is owned by the NMC.
The contractor in question, Shailendra Madhukar Ghate (51), had been appointed for the maintenance of the complex. However, despite his contract recently expiring, Ghate has been trying to retain possession of the complex. He gained unauthorized access to the premises and locked the entrance doors, preventing others from entering. Additionally, he has been parking his own vehicles within the complex without permission and has reportedly been threatening employees.
Dr. Piyush Ambulkar, the NMC Sports Officer, has lodged a complaint with the police regarding these illegal actions. The press release also mentioned that Ghate had been served a notice to remove his equipment, including gym equipment, tables, chairs, and an almirah. However, the contractor has failed to respond to the notice.
On Friday, Ghate himself locked the gates of the swimming pools and entrance gates of the complex in an attempt to illegally maintain control of the premises for his own benefit. A team of sports officers from the NMC visited the complex and witnessed the contractor's illegal activities.
The NMC officials have urged the police to take action based on the complaint and initiate appropriate measures against the contractor, which may include registering an offense.
