NMC Prepares for 68th Dhammachakra Pravartan Din at Deekshabhoomi

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made arrangements for the 68th Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebrations at Deekshabhoomi. To accommodate the large number of devotees, a waterproof pandal covering 10,000 square feet has been set up at the ITI campus. Additionally, nearby schools are ready to house visitors in case of rain, with inclement weather already seen in the city on Wednesday and Friday.

All necessary preparations, including facilities for convenience, security, and health, are in place for the event, which starts on October 11 and will continue until October 14, with the main programme scheduled for October 12.

NMC has established four health centres along the route to Deekshabhoomi for any medical emergencies. Ambulances will be stationed near the site around the clock, and over 120 temporary water taps have been installed for the convenience of visitors. Lakhs of devotees are expected to gather to pay their respects to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, who embraced Buddhism at Deekshabhoomi.

The NMC has also set up a Central Control Room near the Annabhau Sathe Smarak to assist devotees. Over 800 sanitation workers will be working in shifts to maintain cleanliness throughout the celebrations, while the Fire Brigade personnel will remain on standby. Additionally, more than 950 toilets have been made available in and around Deekshabhoomi, including at Mata Kacheri, the ITI campus, and the Central Jail campus on South Ambazari Road.
