NMC's Public Nuisance Squad Fines ₹47,800 in 75 Cases of Littering, Use of Plastic
Nagpur, India- The Nagpur Municipal Corporation's Public Nuisance Squad has stepped up its efforts against public urination, littering, spitting, and the use of thin plastic bags. On Wednesday, the squad recorded 75 cases and collected ₹47,800 in fines.
One person was fined ₹200 for spitting in public areas. For creating messes around handcarts, stalls, and small shops, 23 cases were noted, resulting in ₹9,200 in fines. Four people were fined ₹400 for littering in public places. Three shopkeepers received ₹1,200 in fines for throwing garbage on roads and sidewalks.
The squad fined one business ₹2,000 for improper waste disposal. Nine people were fined ₹12,000 for blocking roads with structures like canopies. One person was fined ₹1,000 for tying animals in public areas, and another was fined ₹1,000 for washing vehicles or animals and making the area dirty.
Other public nuisances led to 14 cases and ₹2,800 in fines. For various institutional offences, 18 cases were registered, resulting in ₹18,000 in fines. The operation was led by Public Nuisance Squad Chief Veersen Tambe.

The squad also fined Café De Ola ₹5,000 for breaking rules in the Dharampeth Zone. Hello, World Pre School in Dhantoli Zone was fined ₹5,000 for unauthorized banners on electric poles. Abdul Najim in Nehru Nagar and Rupesh Kirana Store in Gandhibagh Zone were each fined ₹5,000 for using plastic bags.
Kudekja Cloth and Parathe Kirana Shop in Satranjipura Zone were fined ₹10,000 for using plastic bags. Hayat Medicos in Mangalwari Zone was fined ₹10,000 for mixing medical waste with regular trash. In total, the squad collected ₹40,000 in fines from seven cases.
