No Action Taken to Preserve Bhosle-Era Well in Belishop Colony
Nagpur, India: A historic well from the Bhosle era, located near the football stadium in Belishop Railway Colony, Motibag, is still in poor condition despite direct orders from Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav over 32 months ago. Dr Pravin Dabi, a former member of the Zonal Railway Users' Consultative Committee (ZRUCC), has been trying to get the well preserved but no action has been taken yet.
Dr Dabi had asked the Railway Minister on July 28, 2022, to protect the well. The minister then directed Jitendra Singh, Executive Director (PG) of the Railway Board, to look into the matter and take action. The issue was passed on to the Joint Director (PG), who told Alok Singh, Deputy General Manager of Central Railway, to gather information. Since the well is under the South East Central Railway (SECR), the case was transferred to them.
However, SECR has not taken any steps to conserve the well. Dr Dabi again requested action on November 7, 2022, but nothing has happened since then. As a result, the well continues to be neglected.
