No More Water-Logging at Somalwada Underpass, Says Gadkari
Nagpur, India: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has emphasised the need to improve road connectivity in the southern parts of Nagpur, beyond Manish Nagar. He said areas like Besa, Beltarodi, Pipla, and Ghogli need better links to Wardha Road.
To help people travel more easily, the Maharashtra government has approved a new railway overbridge near Radisson Blu. Gadkari shared this information on Tuesday after the inauguration of the Somalwada underpass. This new underpass will work alongside the existing Manish Nagar railway underbridge (RuB) to improve traffic flow.
The railway line in this area is part of a busy route and causes major traffic problems as the railway gate closes around 150 times a day. To solve this, the Manish Nagar RuB and Wardha Road flyover were built earlier. However, more solutions were needed, leading to the construction of the Somalwada underpass.
Gadkari also announced a new railway overbridge from Narendra Nagar extension, which will open towards Jaiprakash Nagar. He assured that the Somalwada underpass would not have water-logging problems, as high-capacity pumps have been installed. The project was completed at a cost of ₹33.83 crore.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who attended the event as the chief guest, thanked Gadkari for securing funds from the Central Road Fund. He said the railway line had caused problems for many years, and the underpass would help residents. Maharashtra Ministers of State Adv Ashish Jaiswal and Indranil Naik, MP Krupal Tumane, and Maha Metro officials were also present at the event.
