Now fraud can also happen on matrimonial sites

In Nagpur, a 28-year-old woman was tricked by a man she met on a matrimonial site. The accused, 33-year-old Rahul Uttamraav Dakhore, was arrested by the MIDC Police after the victim filed a complaint.

The woman had posted her profile on "Jeevansathi.com" in January 2022. Rahul contacted her, showing interest in marriage. After meeting, Rahul, pretending to be interested in marriage, physically harmed the woman.

Rahul misled the woman into buying things for their wedding, taking ₹2.50 lakhs in cash from her. He also used her money to get a phone, tablet, and jewelry for himself. As the relationship progressed, Rahul started avoiding the woman, creating doubts about their marriage.

Investigation revealed Rahul was already married with a three-year-old son. Feeling betrayed, the woman reported the incident to the police, leading to Rahul's arrest on charges of assault and fraud.

Police suspect Rahul might have deceived other women similarly. An ongoing investigation is being conducted to gather more information about his actions.
