Opposition Pushes for Farmer Compensation on Inaugural Day of Session

At the beginning of the winter session in the Maharashtra Assembly, the opposition immediately targeted the government's handling of farmers' issues on the inaugural day. Members of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, displaying banners and chanting anti-government slogans, confronted the government representatives.

Their primary demands included advocating for a loan waiver for farmers and seeking compensation for their losses. Many MLAs, including prominent opposition leaders, prominently wore orange and cotton garlands as symbols of solidarity with the farming community.

Concurrently, Maharashtra's Home Minister and Deputy CM, Devendra Fadnavis, presented the Maharashtra Casino (Control and Taxation) Bill in the Legislative Assembly, while State Finance Minister Ajit Pawar introduced the Chit Fund Maharashtra Amendment Bill during the session.
