Crime Branch Busted Hookah Café in Dharampeth, ₹26,860 Worth of Items Seized

Nagpur, India: The Crime Branch Unit 2 raided Fusion Café in Dharampeth, Sitabuldi, on March 10 evening as part of a drive against illegal hookah parlours.  

Between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM, police caught café owner Mayank Agrawal (37) and manager Bittu Markam (25) serving banned tobacco-based hookah to customers. The police seized 11 hookah pots, flavoured tobacco, and other items worth ₹26,860.  

A case has been registered at Sitabuldi Police Station under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003, as per the Maharashtra Act of 2018. The accused and the seized items have been handed over to the police for further action.  

The raid was carried out under the orders of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal and led by PI Shubhangi Deshmukh, PSI Chambhare, and their team. Police have warned that more such illegal hookah cafés will be targeted in the future.
