Police Crack Down on Burglary and Vehicle Theft: 2 Juveniles Arrested

Kalamna, Nagpur- The Crime Branch Unit No. 3 has made significant progress in solving cases of burglary and vehicle theft in the Kalman area. The breakthrough came after a series of incidents that unfolded between July 16 and July 19, 2024. 

Piriya Di Mohammad Arshi Mohammad Sharif, a 26-year-old resident of Vaibhav Lakshmi Nagar, Nagpur, had left his home locked while his wife stayed at her parental home in Mominpura. During his absence, an unidentified thief broke into his house, stealing jewelry and cash worth ₹2,85,000 from wooden and metal cupboards.

Following the complaint filed at Kalman police station, an FIR was lodged against unknown suspects under Sections 305(a), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation led by the Crime Branch Unit No. 3 involved confidential sources and technical analysis, which ultimately resulted in the arrest of two juveniles. During interrogation, the juveniles confessed to the burglary and also admitted to stealing an Activa scooter (MH 49 Z 9953) from the Kalman police station area on July 26, 2024.

From the juveniles' possession, police recovered ₹1,400 in cash and the stolen Activa scooter, valued at approximately ₹50,000, totaling ₹51,400. The juveniles were also linked to six other burglary cases: three in the Kalman police station jurisdiction, two in Yashodharanagar police station, and one in Pardi police station.

The juveniles and the recovered items have been handed over to the Kalman police for further investigation. This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of the Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City, the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection), and the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime). The team involved included P. Mukund Thakre, Police Inspector Madhukar Kathoke, and officers Satish Pandey, Dashrath Mishra, Vijay Shrevas, Santosh Thakur, and others.
