Police Cracks Down on Theft Case, Recovers Goods Worth Over ₹1.2 Lakh
Nagpur, India: In a significant development, Crime Branch Unit 5 has successfully arrested a suspected thief and resolved two major cases involving theft. The suspect, identified as Rahul alias DK alias Kalu Sachin Gupta, 19, from Galli No. 11, Adivasi Prakash Nagar, Kalamna, was apprehended following a meticulous investigation and reliable information gathered during a routine patrol.
The breakthrough came after a theft reported by Shyam Chotulal Patel, 32, a resident of Plot No. 34, Ram Sumer Baba Nagar, Shantinagar. Patel, who runs a catering business, discovered that unknown thieves had broken into his home between 00:30 and 04:00 on August 20, 2024. The intruders had stolen gold and silver jewellery valued at approximately Rs 67,000 from an iron almirah.
Patel's complaint led to the registration of a case at the Shantinagar Police Station under Section 305 of the Indian Penal Code. During the ensuing investigation, Crime Branch Unit 5 officers uncovered crucial leads, leading to Gupta’s arrest. Gupta admitted to the theft and further disclosed that he had stolen a Passion Pro motorcycle (MH 49 N 2963) from the Noor Masjid area in Kapil Nagar, Nagpur.
In addition to recovering the stolen jewellery, police also seized the motorcycle and two mobile phones from Gupta, with a total value estimated at around Rs 1,23,800. Gupta has been handed over to the Shantinagar Police for further legal action.
The successful operation was spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Maknikar and Commissioner of Police Abhijeet Patil. The team also included officers Rahul Shire, Rajesh Lohe, Rahul Rothe, Rajendra Talikar, Chandrashekhar Gautam, Vishal Nagbhide, Sudhir Tiwari, and Sunil Yadav, whose concerted efforts led to the resolution of these cases.
