Police Destroy Naxal Camp in Sawargaon Area
In a recent operation on Wednesday evening, police successfully dismantled a Naxal camp situated near Kulbhatti village under Sawargaon AOP. Acting on credible intelligence indicating the presence of armed cadres from Tippagad and Kasansur LOS, the police swiftly initiated an operation led by C-60 Commando units. The aim was to thwart a planned meeting of tendu leaf contractors, with reports suggesting extortion plans.
Despite an exchange of fire between law enforcement and the outlaws, the Naxals managed to evade capture, leveraging the cover of dense forests and darkness. However, police seized significant Naxal material during the operation. Additionally, a charged Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found near the camp, posing a serious threat to security forces.
To neutralize the danger, a Bomb Detection and Disposal (BDDS) unit from Gadchiroli was dispatched to the scene. They safely defused the IED, averting potential harm. Authorities have intensified efforts in the area, vowing to continue anti-Naxal operations to ensure the safety and security of the region.
