Police Seize Banned Gutkha Stock Worth Rs1.77 Lakh in Gittikhadan Raid
Nagpur's Crime Branch Unit-2 of the police recently made a big bust in Gittikhadan, uncovering a hidden stash of banned tobacco gutkha. The raid took place on Thursday, resulting in the confiscation of gutkha valued at a whopping Rs 1.77 lakh.
The operation was sparked by a tip-off, leading officers to a house in Gittikhadan. There, they found various brands of scented tobacco gutkha. The resident, identified as Sheikh Faizan Sheikh Aman, aged 24, was promptly arrested. He was living as a tenant on IBM Road, Gittikhadan.
Charges have been filed against Sheikh Faizan Sheikh Aman under Sections 328, 272, 273, and 188 of the Indian Penal Code. Following his arrest, he was handed over to the Gittikhadan police for further legal action.
This successful raid highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to crack down on illegal tobacco sales. Authorities are committed to protecting public health and ensuring that banned products like gutkha stay off the streets.
