Polling teams Arrive Back at their Headquarters in Gadchiroli
Vidarbha, Gadchiroli, India: The polling teams returned to their headquarters with the EVM machines following the conclusion of the elections, and the process of handing over these machines to the relevant authorities began the previous evening.
Although voting in the district was scheduled to end at 3 PM, it continued late into the evening at some booths due to long queues. Many voters arrived at their polling stations late, causing delays in completing the voting process on time.
The EVM requires a certain amount of time to complete the voting process for each voter. Until one voter’s process is finished, the next voter cannot cast their vote. As a result, the voting process was delayed. Voters were observed waiting for their turn within the booth premises.
Many voters, tired of standing in long queues, were seen sitting on the ground while waiting for their turn. At some booths, a unique scene unfolded where voters formed seated queues on the ground. Despite the challenges and discomfort, the administration ensured that every voter was able to cast their vote. No one was denied their right, although they had to endure the inconvenience of waiting.
The police department played a significant role in ensuring the smooth conduct of elections, especially in remote areas. No incidents of unrest were reported from anywhere in the district. Under the leadership of SP Neelotpal, polling staff were safely transported to their assigned base camps via helicopters and later airlifted back to their headquarters without any issues.
Organizing elections in sensitive areas is a demanding task, but the police managed it efficiently. The support of other security agencies also played a crucial role in the process.
The health department ensured the provision of medical services at polling stations. Under the leadership of District Collector Sanjay Daine and Zilla Parishad CEO Ayushi Singh, health services were systematically planned for each polling station during the Assembly Election.
