Rajkumar Patel Joins Shiv Sena, Sparks Tension Over Melghat Seat Allocation
Vidarbha, Amravati, India: Melghat MLA Rajkumar Patel’s switch to the Shiv Sena on October 10 has raised concerns within the BJP. There is speculation that the Melghat seat, which was previously designated for the BJP, could be handed over to the Shiv Sena. This potential change has unsettled BJP leaders and sparked internal tensions.
After Rajkumar Patel joined the Shiv Sena, a meeting was held in Chikhaldara on Sunday, where BJP candidates and officials discussed the upcoming elections for the Melghat seat. Following the meeting, they travelled to Nagpur to meet with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Sources revealed that former MLAs Prabhudas Bhilawekar and Kewalram Kale, along with Ramesh Mavaskar, Rekha Ramesh Mavaskar, BJP Legislative Assembly seat convenor Shiva Kakad, Laxmar Jambekar, Gajanan Khadke, Sameer Haware, Ganesh Yeole, and other party officials, travelled to Nagpur. They met with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on October 7.
The office bearers stated that they informed Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis about the situation in Melghat and insisted that the BJP retain the Melghat seat. They said Fadnavis assured them that the BJP would contest the Melghat seat.
