Nagpur, India: A rare white-coloured Common Sand Boa was found in Wathoda on Monday, causing excitement among residents. The snake was safely caught and released into the forest by wildlife volunteers.
Local resident Umesh Bhoyar saw the unusual white snake behind his house and got scared. He quickly informed Lucky Khalode, a member of the Wildlife Welfare Society.
Soon, Lucky Khalode, Nitish Bhandakkar, and Abhishek arrived at the spot. They identified the snake as a rare albino Common Sand Boa (locally called Mati Khaya). The team carefully caught the snake and safely released it into the forest.
Experts say the snake’s white colour is due to a lack of melanin, the pigment that gives colour to skin. This condition, called albinism, is very rare in snakes. Finding an albino snake is a unique event in Nagpur.
