RCB lifts the WPL Trophy for the First Time in History
The women of Royal Challengers Bangalore won the Women's Premier League title after defeating the Delhi Capitals women by eight wickets. Smriti Mandhana, the captain, and Sophie Devine added significant runs for the team while chasing 114. RCB had not lost a race when Ellyse Perry crossed the finish line. The bowlers created a spectacular victory by preventing the opposition batters from escaping at any point during the game.
Following a partnership of 64 runs between skipper Mag Lanning (23) and Shafali Verma (44), not a single player was able to make a meaningful contribution. Alice Capsey (0) and Jemimah Rodrigues (0) were unable to access their accounts.
When they hit the double digits, Radha Yadav (12) and Arundhati Reddy (10) were unable to continue. With four wickets, Shreyanka Patil was the most effective bowler. As Delhi was bowled out for 113 in 18.3 overs, Sophie Molineux (3 wickets) and Asha Sobhana (92 wickets) bowled efficiently for the Bangalore-based team.
Together with Sophie Devine, Mandhana, who finished with 31 runs, added 49 more runs. After hitting 32 runs off of 27 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six, Sophie was out. Perry recorded 35 runs without giving up and prevented DC from returning. At 17 not out, Richa Ghosh was the other hitter who remained unbeaten.
