Reckless Drivers Cause Chaos in Mahal, Injuring Woman, Baby and Man
Nagpur, India- On Friday night, a car driven recklessly by drunk young people caused chaos in the crowded Mahal area near Natraj Talkies. A Mahindra Logan ran into the crowd, including motorcyclists, injuring a woman, her three-month-old baby, and a man. The car's driver was found drunk, and police seized beer bottles and marijuana from the vehicle. This accident reminded people of a recent similar incident in Pune involving a Porsche and Nagpur's Ritika Maloo Ram Jhula accident.
The car was speeding from the Aaychit Mandir area and lost control near Natraj Talkies, hitting pedestrians and other vehicles. Three people were seriously injured, and four others had minor injuries.
Shrikant Aaglawe, BJP City Vice-President and resident said the driver was caught by the public while two others tried to escape but were chased down and handed over to the police. Angry residents smashed the car's windshield and hit the occupants. Police from Kotwali Station arrived and took the drunk individuals into custody.
The suspects were identified as Sunny Chavan, Anshul Dhale, and a friend from the Imambada area. Police seized three beer bottles and marijuana from the car. DCP Zone III Gaurav Bhamre said the injured were taken to a hospital; the woman had a broken leg, and the baby was under observation. The suspects were sent for a medical examination later that night.
