Revenue Department Employees Strike Across Amravati and Bhandara

On Monday, Revenue Department employees from Amravati and Bhandara districts joined a statewide strike to push for various demands. Approximately 950 employees in Amravati participated in the indefinite strike, impacting daily operations severely across Revenue Department offices.

The strike, supported by all employees of the district's disaster and rescue force, has left offices deserted, halting crucial services including rescue operations during floods and natural calamities.

Key demands include the implementation of amended Revenue Department patterns, following Dangat Samiti's recommendations, and increasing the pay grade of revenue assistants from Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,400. Brijesh Vastani, President, and Ramanand Saraswati, Secretary of the Amravati District Revenue Employees Union, stated that the strike was a response to the government's continuous neglect of their demands.

Revenue Department employees also began a strike on Monday in Bhandara, citing unmet demands despite government assurances. The strike encompassed Setu works related to students and farmers, underscoring widespread discontent.

Demands in Bhandara included the implementation of the Revenue Department's Maintained Charts Committee's report without staff reductions and the approval of pending promotions for Senior Clerks and Divisional Officers to the post of Naib Tehsildar. Additional demands focused on increasing grade pay, renaming posts, and promoting various categories within the department.

A demonstration led by Shivshankar Sakharwade, District President of the Maharashtra State Revenue Employees Organisation, was held at Trimurti Square to amplify their grievances and push for swift resolution from authorities.
