Ritika Maloo’s Bail Plea to be Heard on Saturday as Court Postpones Case Review
Nagpur, India: The hearing on the prosecution’s request to review a lower court’s decision in the Ram Jhula hit-and-run case has been postponed to 12:30 PM on Saturday—district and Additional Sessions Judge S.U. Hake decided after the prosecution informed the court about a new petition filed by the complainant’s lawyer.
The petition, filed with Principal District and Sessions Judge Dinesh P. Surana, reads that the revision petition and the accused's bail application, Ritika Maloo, be transferred to a single court, as both are related to the same case. Since no order or official communication from the Principal Judge’s court was available on Friday’s hearing, Judge Hake postponed the matter until October 5.
Ritika Maloo’s bail application, filed by her lawyer Adv. Chandrashekhar Jaltare is also scheduled for a hearing on Saturday before Additional Sessions Judge R.S. Patil-Bhosale. The court has asked the prosecution to submit its reply to the bail plea by October 5.
Maloo is accused of driving under the influence and crashing her car into a scooter at Ram Jhula in the early hours of February 25, resulting in the deaths of two young men, Mohd Hussain Gulam Mustafa and Mohd Ateef Mohd Zia. The State CID is leading the investigation, and the court’s upcoming decisions will determine whether Maloo will remain in custody or be granted bail.
