According to rumors in Spain on Monday, Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City and Spain, may be sidelined for the remainder of the season because of an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 28-year-old went down clutching his right knee during Sunday's Premier League match between City and Arsenal, and he hobbled off.
Tests on Monday verified an ACL damage, according to reports from ESPN and the Spanish sports newspaper Marca.

The loss of Rodri would be devastating to City's dreams of winning the Champions League again and of winning the Premier League for a record sixth time. Only one of the former Atletico Madrid player's 84 club and national team losses had occurred.

Since Rodri was already well covered by City, his absence creates a glaring vacuum in Guardiola's midfield. Leading players could go on strike due to an ever-expanding workload, Rodri had warned just last week. In 63 games for City and Spain last season, he racked up over 5,000 minutes of playtime.
