RPF Seizes 108.65 kg of Ganja Worth Over Rs 16 Lakh
In a notable joint operation, the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted a significant ganja seizure at Nagpur Railway Station. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 108.65 kg of ganja, valued at over Rs 16 lakh. This substantial haul was discovered on Platform No. 1 during the early hours of June 3.
The CIU team's vigilance played a crucial role in identifying the suspicious bags, leading to the swift apprehension of the smugglers involved. Further investigation, aided by a sniffer dog, confirmed the presence of the banned substance.
Among the detained suspects were Narmada Prasad, Rajesh Yadav, and Shiv Dubey, who were caught attempting to transport the illicit drugs. CCTV footage played a crucial role in identifying the individuals involved in the smuggling attempt.
Following the seizure, the ganja was officially weighed and valued, with the total amount estimated at Rs 16,29,750. The suspects were subsequently handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further legal proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
This incident underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking and ensuring public safety.
