Rs 25 Lakhs Stolen From Garnet Motors, Nearby Showrooms Targeted
Nagpur, India: A recent theft at Garnet Motors India Pvt Ltd in the MIDC Police Station area resulted in the loss of Rs 25 lakh in cash. The thieves also targeted three other nearby companies, causing relatively minor damages in comparison.
Madhup Praveen Ane, the manager of Garnet Motors, stated that the thieves broke into the office and stole cash from a locker inside a cupboard. The money had been kept there because the company’s cashier was occupied with distributing salaries to employees and was unable to deposit it in the bank. According to the MIDC police, the stolen amount was from five days' worth of business.
The thieves also targeted the showrooms of Ashok Leyland, Renault, and Mahindra, though the losses were relatively smaller. Ashok Leyland’s office was locked, and nothing was stolen. Mahindra reported a loss of Rs 5,000, while Renault’s loss Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.
When the employees of Garnet Motors arrived at work on January 11, they discovered that the cashier’s cupboard was open and the cash was missing.
The police were notified, and officers, including MIDC PI Mahesh Chavan and DCP Lohit Matani, arrived at the scene to investigate. The other three companies had already deposited their money in the bank, preventing the thieves from stealing significant amounts from them.
