RTMNU Leads the Way: Constitution Studies Made Mandatory for All Courses

Nagpur, India: Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has set a new benchmark by becoming the first university in India to introduce a compulsory course on the Indian Constitution across all streams. From the Summer 2025 session, every undergraduate and postgraduate student will have to complete a two-credit course focused on constitutional knowledge.

The objective behind this move is to strengthen students' understanding of constitutional rights, duties, and democratic values, making them more aware and responsible citizens. University officials emphasised that knowledge of the Constitution is crucial for young minds to contribute meaningfully to society beyond their professional careers.

RTMNU’s initiative is seen as a progressive step that could encourage other institutions nationwide to adopt similar educational reforms, promoting constitutional literacy among future generations.
