RTO Inspects Bus Exit Doors on Samruddhi Expressway for Safety
Nagpur, India: The RTO team inspects the bus exit door at the Samruddhi Expressway entry point to ensure it is functioning properly, as it is crucial for passenger safety in the event of an accident or fire.
On November 24, the RTO team discovered that the exit door of a private bus traveling from Nagpur to Pune was malfunctioning and issued a show cause notice, instructing the bus to return. The bus was carrying 41 passengers at the time.
Samruddhi Expressway was previously referred to as the "highway of death," rather than the "fate line of Maharashtra."
The situation is improving, as statistics indicate a roughly 10 percent reduction in fatal accidents on the Samruddhi Expressway.
A 24x7 RTO team has been stationed to monitor the situation. According to the RTO’s report, a bus from Vijayanand Travels departed from Nagpur to Pune on November 24.
The RTO team inspected the bus when it arrived at the Samruddhi Highway entry point at 10:45 pm.
The bus had 41 passengers on board, and the RTO team discovered that the exit door, which is crucial for emergency evacuations, was not functioning.
The RTO team issued a show-cause notice to the bus and prevented it from entering the Samruddhi Expressway.
Vijay Chavan, the Regional Transport Officer, stated that the RTO team inspects every vehicle that enters the Samruddhi Expressway.
It is mandatory for every bus to have a functional exit door that can be opened during an emergency, and the RTO team is giving special focus to ensuring this during their inspections.
