Saini Travels Bus Hits Divider on Nagpur-Tuljapur Highway, Injuring 35

Nagpur, India: A Saini Travels bus going from Kolhapur to Nagpur crashed into a divider near Hivari on the Nagpur-Tuljapur National Highway, injuring 35 people, including the driver and cleaner. The accident happened at 3:45 AM in Yavatmal district. Two people were seriously injured and are being treated at a private hospital.

The bus left Kolhapur at 2 PM on Sunday and was passing through Sangli, Solapur, Latur, Tuljapur, and Nanded before reaching Yavatmal. Near Hivari, driver Jaswinder Singh lost control of the vehicle, which hit the divider. The impact shattered the windshield, throwing Singh and the steering wheel into a nearby drain.

The cleaner, Abdul Haq, who was asleep in the driver’s cabin, was also thrown out of the vehicle. Most passengers were asleep when the accident happened, causing panic inside the bus.

Hearing the passengers’ screams, local villagers rushed to help. Police, led by PI Prashant Kaware and traffic branch head Dnyanoba Devkate, arrived soon after to manage the situation.

With the help of villagers, the injured passengers were taken to Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College Hospital in five ambulances. Passengers with minor injuries received first aid and continued their journey to Warda and Nagpur.

Driver Jaswinder Singh, who had a head injury, was taken to Nagpur for treatment. Cleaner Abdul Haq, who suffered chest and stomach injuries, is being treated at a private hospital.

This accident shows the dangers of speeding on highways. Authorities are asking passengers and bus operators to follow road safety rules to prevent such accidents.
