Sessions Court Issues Notice to Ritika Malu in Ram Jhula Case
Nagpur, India- On Thursday, District and Sessions Judge SR Patil (Bhosle) issued a notice to Ritika Malu, the prime accused in the Ram Jhula case, following an application by Tehsil police seeking the cancellation of her bail. Malu is accused of causing the deaths of Mohmmad Hussain Gulam Mustafa (34) and Mohammad Atif Mohammad Joya (32) in a drunk driving incident on the night of February 24, 2024.
The incident occurred when Malu, along with her friend Madhuri Shishir Sarda (37), allegedly fled the scene after the accident. Both later surrendered and were arrested. Initially, Tehsil police charged them under Section 304(a) of the IPC, a bailable offence, but upgraded the charge to Section 304 after confirming Malu was intoxicated during the mishap.
The sessions court has directed Malu to file a reply by August 3, as the police seek to cancel her bail, which had been previously granted by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC).
