Shivshahi Bus Overturns Near Khajri village in Gondia, Nine Dead, Many Injured
Vidarbha, Gondia, India: A devastating accident occurred today on the Kohmara State Highway near Khajri village in Gondia, when a Shivshahi bus from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) overturned while attempting to avoid a motorcycle. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 9 passengers and left many others seriously injured.
The accident happened between 12:00 and 12:30 PM when the bus, travelling from Nagpur to Gondia, tried to avoid colliding with a bike that suddenly appeared on a sharp turn. In an attempt to prevent the crash, the driver swerved sharply, causing the bus to lose control and overturn. Over 35 passengers were on board at the time. Witnesses reported that some passengers died instantly, while others were critically injured.
The bus driver fled the scene following the crash. Residents alerted authorities, and ambulances and police arrived shortly after. The injured were quickly transported to a nearby government hospital for treatment.
