Shoojit Sircar had put his biopic on Kishore Kumar on hold
Shoojit Sircar recently discussed the stalled version of his ambitious Kishore Kumar biopic. In an interview with Scroll, the director disclosed that he learned about Anurag Basu's intentions for a film of a similar nature and chose to release the movie on the iconic singer.
In response to a question concerning the progress of his football-based movie and Kishore Kumar biography, Shoojit said, "I had been working on a script on the life of Kishore Kumar."
I spent around three or four years researching the family, but Anurag Basu and a few other scripts were also being worked on at the same time. I had drafted it, but after learning about Anurag, I didn't see the need for two persons to perform the same thing. That was put on hold. It is quite difficult to regain momentum after you have lost it.
"Then there was a football movie about Mohun Bagan and the British called 1911," he added. The same thing occurred with that movie as well. I've lost momentum because the script didn't reach a suitable level. However, I'm now working on other movies.
