Shruti Haasan’s First Hollywood Film "The Eye" Set for India Premiere

Actress Shruti Haasan is making her Hollywood debut with the film The Eye, which will have its India premiere at the Wench Film Festival 2025. Directed by Daphne Schmon, the film will be the opening feature of the festival, taking place from February 27 to March 2.
The Wench Film Festival focuses on horror, sci-fi, and fantasy movies.
The Eye is about Diana, played by Shruti Haasan, who travels to a remote island where her husband Felix, played by Mark Rowley, drowned. As she grieves, she learns about an 'Evil Eye' ritual, an ancient practice that could bring Felix back but comes with a dark and scary price.
The film was shot in Athens and Corfu and has already been shown at the London Independent Film Festival and the Greek International Film Festival, receiving positive reviews.
Shruti Haasan shared her excitement about the film’s Indian premiere, saying that she loves psychological thrillers and that the film explores emotions, grief, and the supernatural in an exciting way. She also mentioned that the project is special to her because it was created by an all-women-led production team and follows sustainable filmmaking, which is important for the future of cinema.
Director Daphne Schmon said Shruti was the perfect choice for the role, explaining that the film is inspired by Corfu, where her family is from. She praised Shruti’s performance, saying that she brings deep emotions and authenticity to her character and that her work in the film will leave a lasting impression.
With The Eye set to open the Wench Film Festival 2025, Shruti Haasan’s Hollywood journey is off to an exciting start.
