Nagpur, India: The iconic Sitabuldi Fort will be opened to the public on the occasion of Maharashtra Day, 1 May 2025. Citizens will have the rare opportunity to explore the historic fort between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Entry will be allowed through the Station Canteen (CSD) gate, located opposite KIMS Kingsway Hospital. Visitors are required to carry valid identity proof for access.
Situated in the heart of Nagpur, Sitabuldi Fort holds immense historical importance as the site of the 1817 Battle of Sitabuldi between the British and Maratha forces. It is normally under the control of the Indian Army and remains closed to the general public, except on special occasions such as Republic Day, Independence Day, and Maharashtra Day.
This limited public access provides a unique chance for locals and tourists to connect with the city’s rich heritage. Authorities have urged visitors to cooperate with security measures during the event to ensure a smooth and safe experience.
The opening of Sitabuldi Fort stands as a tribute to Maharashtra’s legacy and offers a moment of reflection on the region’s history and pride.
