Six Gadchiroli Students Secure Scholarships for Overseas Education

Gadchiroli, India-  For Supriya Shambharkar, a girl from the village of Kudri, seeing the Gadchiroli district turn into a mining hub was very exciting. Her happiness reached new heights when she got a scholarship to study mining engineering at Curtin University in Perth, Australia. But she isn't alone. There are five more students like her, who show how Gadchiroli is changing.

These six students are the first to get sponsored for higher education abroad, thanks to a full scholarship program by Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd (LMEL). This company has just opened a new iron plant at Konsari in Gadchiroli.

LMEL is investing around Rs 30,000 crore in the Surjagarh mines and related steel-making facilities. These six students come from small villages in Gadchiroli, a district in eastern Maharashtra affected by Naxal activities.

They are Supriya Shambharkar from Kudri, Shilpa Malu Maha from Manger, Ajit Dassa Korami from Petha, Rahul Kanna Naroti from Zarewada, Shubham Mangu Gota from Petha, and Ignasius Prakash Bada from Bande.
