South Africa vs. Afghanistan T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal
Mohammad Nabi is on Afghanistan's team. In 2004, Nabi was a member of the Afghan squad for their inaugural official game. Then there is Noor Ahmad, who was not even born when his nation participated in its inaugural international match.
On June 27, the Afghan squad, captained by Rashid Khan, will play their first World Cup semifinal against South Africa, a side they have never been able to defeat.
Two Twenty20 and One Test matches as well as two ODIs have been played between South Africa and Afghanistan. All of those have been won by the Proteas. South Africa beat Afghanistan by 37 runs in the 2016 T20 World Cup and by 59 runs in the 2010 tournament.
Under Aiden Markram's leadership, South Africa has won every match thus far in the competition and only needs two more victories to claim their first World Cup victory.
If the Proteas, or India, win without dropping a game, history will be made since it will be the first time a side has won the trophy without dropping a game.
