‘Sthal’ Set for 7th March Release, Premiered at TIFF and Won Global Awards

Nagpur, India: The Marathi film Sthal is set to release in cinemas on 7th March. The film tells the story of a young woman from Vidarbha who dreams of completing her education while facing the challenge of an arranged marriage.
On Thursday, the film’s team, including veteran actor Sachin Pilgaonkar, director-writer Jayant Digambar Somalkar, and the cast, spoke to the media at the Patrakar Club of Nagpur. Sthal is presented by Sachin Pilgaonkar and marks Somalkar’s first Marathi film as a director. The film is produced by Jayant Digambar Somalkar, Shefali Bhushan, Karan Grover, and Riga Malhotra.
The film highlights rural traditions and the struggles young women face in arranged marriages. Nandini Chikte plays the lead role, along with actors Taranath Khiratkar, Sangeeta Sonekar, Suyog Dhavas, Sandeep Somalkar, Sandeep Parkhi, Swati Ulmale, Gauri Badaki, and Mansi Pawar.
Sthal has been shown at 29 film festivals worldwide and has won over 16 awards. It had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and won the NETPAC Award for Best Asia Pacific Film.
With its unique story and strong performances, Sthal is expected to connect with audiences when it releases in theatres next month.
