Suspended Cop and Wife Extort Rs 18 Lakh from Akola Youth

Akola, Maharashtra-  A suspended policeman and his wife extorted Rs 18 lakh from a young man by promising to sell gold at a lower price.

The police have charged Pallavi Jawalikar and her husband Kamlesh Jawalikar, who live in Police Quarters in Gittikhadan, with fraud. Kamlesh was previously suspended from Wadi Police Station for cheating a bullion trader.

Shubham Jagdish Nebhnani from Balaji Nagar, Patwari Colony, Murtijapur, District - Akola, filed the complaint.

According to the police, Shubham rents excavators and his friend Himanshu Gupta lives in Nagpur. In May, Himanshu told Shubham that his friend Pallavi Jawalikar buys and sells gold. Since Shubham was getting married on December 15, 2024, he agreed to buy gold. On May 5, Pallavi contacted Shubham via WhatsApp and invited him to Nagpur to discuss the purchase. On May 7, Shubham met Pallavi at a hotel in Sadar, where she offered gold at Rs 10,000 less than the market price.

Shubham gave her Rs 60,000. An hour later, Pallavi gained his trust by giving him a five-gram gold biscuit. She assured Shubham that if he bought more gold, she could sell it for Rs 50,000 per 10 grams. A few days later, Shubham returned to Nagpur and paid Pallavi Rs 18 lakh.

Pallavi left the hotel in a car (MH-01/AH-4205) after promising to return in an hour with the gold. However, she did not come back as promised. Shubham tried contacting her on her mobile phone. She assured him she would bring the gold the next day. The following day, Pallavi met Shubham at Rahate Colony Square and handed over 257 grams of gold. When Shubham took the gold home, he discovered it was fake.

When Shubham confronted Pallavi about the fake gold, she claimed the goldsmith she bought it from had been arrested and asked him to wait a few days. After a few days, Shubham returned to Nagpur and met Pallavi again. She took him to an unknown place on Friday, saying she was going to meet a goldsmith. She left Shubham in the car and did not return. Shortly afterward, Kamlesh arrived with an accomplice. They dropped Shubham off and drove away with the car.

Shubham filed a complaint with the police. The police have registered a case and started an investigation.
