Swapnil Kusale, ticket collector, wins India's 3rd bronze in shooting

When Swapnil Kusale was just 14 years old, he was chosen to participate in a government sports programme in Maharashtra, and he decided that shooting was his favorite activity.

The 28-year-old from Kolhapur took home the bronze in the men's 50m 3P final at the Olympic Games in Paris on Thursday at the Chateauroux Shooting Center.

Four years after he began shooting, in 2015, Swapnil won the gold in the 50m rifle prone event at the Asian Championships. Two years later, he claimed the national title in the same discipline, defeating Chain Singh and Gagan Narang, the bronze medallists from the London Olympics.

He first became interested in the 50m 3P event during the conclusion of his junior year. The guy from Maharashtra obtained his first rifle in 2015 when he began working for Indian Railways as a ticket collector.

Kusale led the 50m 3P final in the Asian Games in Hangzhou the previous year, but he finished fourth after a 7.6 in the standing series. However, the Indian team that included Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Akhil Sheoran won the gold.
