Teen Girl Dies by Suicide After Alleged Harassment in Nagpur

Nagpur, Maharashtra: A tragic incident occurred in Gittikhadan, where a 17-year-old girl, died by suicide after her boyfriend ended their relationship. Police have charged two individuals, including the 20-year-old boyfriend, Pavan Tekam, and his girlfriend, Sangeeta (20), with abetment of suicide.
According to police, Pavan was in a romantic relationship with Sangeeta and Punam, a 12th-grade Science student. In November of last year, Punam discovered Pavan's affair with Sangeeta and confronted him. Pavan promised to end his relationship with Sangeeta, but he continued to see both girls. When Punam confronted the couple again, they allegedly harassed and emotionally distressed her.
On Monday morning, Punam was at home alone with her younger brother while her parents were at work. She took her own life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. A neighbor found her body and informed her father, who rushed home. Punam was taken to the hospital, but doctors declared her dead.
Police found a suicide note at the scene, revealing Punam's emotional struggles. In the note, she shared how both Pavan and Sangeeta had caused her distress and exploitation. She also expressed love for her parents, writing, "I love you, Mummy Papa, forever."
Based on the contents of the note, police have filed charges against Pavan and Sangeeta for abetment of suicide.
