Tejas Box Office Collection Day 2: Kangana Ranaut's Film Trails Behind '12th Fail,' Earns Rs 2.50 Crore
Kangana Ranaut's latest movie, "Tejas," had a rough start at the box office, and it struggled to gain momentum. As reported by industry tracker Sachnilk, the film managed to earn a modest Rs 1.25 crore on its second day, resulting in a total domestic collection of Rs 2.50 crore.
"Tejas" had its cinematic debut on Friday, October 27, with an opening of only Rs 1.25 crore. Unfortunately, the film's performance did not show any improvement on Saturday. "Tejas" faced stiff competition from Vidhu Vinod Chopra's "12th Fail," which saw a 100 per cent increase in collections. Like "Tejas," "12th Fail" also had a slow start at the box office, earning Rs 1.10 crore on Friday. However, it managed to surpass "Tejas" in terms of collections on Saturday, raking in Rs 2.20 crore.
Despite a larger budget and significant promotional efforts, "Tejas" failed to meet its anticipated success. This setback is a significant disappointment for Kangana Ranaut and RSVP Movies, the producers of "Tejas," as the film was made with a budget of Rs. 60 crore, excluding expenses for prints and publicity.
This underwhelming performance adds to Kangana's string of box-office disappointments. Her last five films, including "Dhaakad" (2022), "Thalaivi" (2021), "Panga" (2020), and "Judgemental Hai Kya" (2019), failed to resonate with audiences and were labelled box office flops.
"Tejas" features Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, with Sarvesh Mewara as the writer and director, and Ronnie Screwvala as the producer. The film boasts an ensemble cast, including Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vishak Nair, Kashyap Shangari, Sunit Tandon, Rio Kapadia, Mohan Agashe, and Mushtaq Kak.
