Tensions Rise in Tajbagh After Youth Assaulted by Notorious Criminal’s Relatives in Nagpur

Nagpur, India: Fear has gripped the residents of Tajbagh once more after a local youth was attacked by relatives of Abu, a notorious criminal, near Nagpur Central Jail on Wednesday evening. The incident has sparked concerns about a possible return of Abu’s gang’s intimidation tactics. A case was filed at the Dhantoli police station on October 18.

Sheikh Shahbaz Sheikh Nazim, a resident of Bada Tajbagh, reported that the incident occurred while he was waiting outside the jail for his friend Raja, who was being released on October 16 after completing a four-year sentence. Shahbaz was with his friends Akram Khadim, Guddu Khan, and his brother-in-law, Mohibbe Rasool Ansari, at the time.

While they were waiting, Iqbal Khan Igga, who was standing near the jail gate, allegedly stared at Shahbaz and called him over. Iqbal confronted Shahbaz, questioning why he was looking at him and threatening him. He then verbally abused Shahbaz and slapped him. Following this, Faisal Khan Pau reportedly grabbed Shahbaz by the neck and forcefully pushed him to the ground.

The situation intensified when Raja Mazhar Khan, the son of Abu, joined the group and began attacking Shahbaz. When Mohibbe Rasool Ansari tried to intervene to protect Shahbaz, he was also assaulted. The attack escalated as Iqbal Khan Igga and his associates, including Akram Taji, targeted Shahbaz and his friends, leading to serious injuries.

Based on Shahbaz’s complaint, the Dhantoli police have filed a case under several sections of the BNS, including 189(2), 191(2), 296(B), 351(2), and 115(2), against multiple individuals, such as Iqbal Khan Igga, Faisal Khan Pau, Raja Mazhar Khan, Ashu Bhanja, Wasim Bhanja, Aqib Bhanja, Asif Bhanja, and Zakir Bhanja, all from Sakkardara. Additionally, ten unidentified accomplices have been charged for their roles in the assault and subsequent threats.
