The wall of the Railway Mail Service Building Collapsed

Nagpur, India: A wall of the Railway Mail Service (RMS) building connecting to the passenger reservation center (PRS) at Nagpur Railway Station collapsed on February 21. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, though it highlights the risks associated with the ongoing redevelopment of Nagpur Railway Station. The Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) is responsible for the redevelopment project, which is progressing rapidly.
The RMS and PRS buildings are being demolished to make way for the construction of a ramp providing access to the station. Additionally, the Ticket Checkers' rest house and union offices in the nearby building will also be removed as part of the station's redevelopment.
The wall, about 15 to 20 feet high, fell in the afternoon. It was next to the running staff lobby at the station, an area usually visited by staff, and a small canteen. No one was there at the time, or the falling debris could have hurt them.
Nagpur station has been in the news for the wrong reasons. First, travelers had a lucky escape when the pantry of an Express train caught fire, caused by a fireball from a nearby fuel tanker between platforms 1 and 2. Now, the wall collapse highlights the risks for travelers at the station.
