There will soon be Direct Flights from Nagpur to Singapore
In an effort to promote Vidarbha's economic growth, particularly in the IT sector, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari wrote to Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation, asking him to take into consideration launching a direct flight from Nagpur to Singapore.
In response to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's letter, Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote that Indian Airlines had been notified to begin direct flights from Nagpur to Singapore due to the viable demand for Vidarbha's development.
The letter further says that any airport in the ASA that is designated as a "call point" for a foreign airline may be used for "ne-end" operations in India. Nagpur is not now accessible as a designated carrier's "call point" in Singapore.Currently, the Indian government encourages expanded international operations by non-metropolitan carriers, either directly or through their own domestic operations.
While Indian airlines can start service to Singapore destinations from any international airport, including Nagpur, designated carriers of Singapore Airlines are not allowed to conduct scheduled passenger flights from Nagpur. "By notifying Indian Airlines to begin direct flights from Nagpur to Singapore, awareness is being created," he stated in the letter.
