Thief Arrested for Break-In at Senior Citizen's House in Nandanvan
Nagpur, India: A 31-year-old man, Vikas Vinod Gajbhiye, was arrested by Crime Branch Unit-3 on Wednesday for allegedly stealing cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.60 lakh from a senior citizen's home in the Nandanvan area. Gajbhiye, a resident of MIG Colony, Sugat Nagar, Jaripatka, had been absconding since the theft, which occurred between September 1 and 2 at the residence of 69-year-old Vasant Ganeshraoji Shrikhandkar.
The thief gained access to the house by forcing open the door while Shrikhandkar was away at his old residence in Wathoda. Gajbhiye fled with Rs 5,000 in cash and gold jewellery valued at Rs 1.55 lakh. After Shrikhandkar filed a complaint, the Nandanvan Police registered a case under Sections 305(a), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
Acting on suspicion, the Crime Branch initiated a parallel investigation and apprehended Gajbhiye. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen goods. Authorities are now investigating the possibility of his involvement in other similar house break-ins. Gajbhiye has been handed over to Nandanvan Police for further investigation.
