Third Major Fire in Nagpur: Sawmill in Lakadganj Goes Up in Flames
Nagpur, India: A massive fire engulfed a sawmill near Barbate Garden in Lakadganj on Wednesday evening, destroying large amounts of lumber, machinery, and stock. Firefighters worked for hours to control the flames, preventing further damage. No casualties were reported, but losses are estimated to be in lakhs. This is the third major fire incident in Nagpur in recent days.
Eight fire tenders were sent to the spot as thick smoke and flames spread rapidly through the sawmill. The presence of sawdust, wood shavings, and stored logs intensified the blaze, making it difficult to control. Machines, including band and circular saws, were also damaged in the fire.
Authorities suspect an electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire, but investigations are ongoing. Police struggled to manage the crowd as onlookers gathered, delaying firefighting efforts. A case has been registered, and officials will assess the full extent of the damage.
