This is the reason why you should never reheat tea
There are some foods and drinks that we like to reheat frequently in order to savor them warm. Reheating food has drawbacks of its own, even though consuming hot food is generally healthy.
Nutritionist Kiran Kukreja outlined the three reasons we should never reheat tea, oil, or spinach in a viral video. She went on to say that warming these foods can lead to a number of illnesses.
Dr. Rituja Ugalmugle, Internal Medicine, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central, discussed the detrimental effects of reheating oil, tea, and spinach in an interview.
Reheating the Tea:
1. Loss of Nutrients- Reheating tea can cause the breakdown of certain antioxidants, such as catechins, especially in green tea. This results in a loss of nutrients.
2. Formation of tannins: Reheating tea can enhance the concentration of tannins, giving it a stronger, more bitter flavor. Even though tannins don't directly cause harm, consuming too much of them can prevent some nutrients, including iron, from being absorbed.
3. Microbial growth: Particularly if it contains milk or sugar, tea that is left out at room temperature for long periods of time before being warmed back up can turn into a haven for bacteria.
