Three Senior Officials Booked in Umred MIDC MMP Industries Blast Case

Umred (Nagpur), India: Three senior officials of MMP Industries Ltd., located in Umred MIDC, have been booked following a deadly factory explosion on 11 April that killed five workers and critically injured six others. Two of the injured victims, suffering 80% burns, were shifted to a private hospital on Saturday for advanced care.
The Umred police registered a case against the officials after receiving a preliminary report from the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH). The report highlighted serious safety violations and negligence by the company. It revealed that two recently hired workers were put on duty without any safety training.
The officials booked include Tenneti Narsing Murthy (56), General Manager; Raman Ramchandra Bhajipale (50), Safety Officer; and Amit Shankarrao Bachale (38), Shift Manager. They have been charged under Sections 7(A), 40, and 38 of the Factories Act for failure to enforce proper safety protocols.
Officials said that the final DISH report may name more individuals. The incident has raised concerns over industrial safety standards and the urgent need for stricter monitoring and accountability in hazardous industries.
